Green Juice

So at Veda's 9 month check up, she was anemic. her level was at 10.1, so the Dr. said give her more leafy veggies and food with more iron in it. So we got some different formula with extra iron in it, but wanted to experiment with veggies! Specifically, making a juice for her to enjoy. Ray had been juicing and gave her some of the juice he was drinkin, to our surprise she LOVED it. So not only is it super healthy, but it has the iron that she needs :)

so here is the recipe!

  Veda's Green Juice
3 to 4 stalks of Celery
1 Bell Pepper
1/2 to 1 Cucumber
3-5 Leafs of Green Kale
1/4 to 1/2 Lemon  (to your taste)
1/4 to 1/2 Lime  (to your taste)
2 small to med apples
 
1/2 a Banana (optional) - don't juice put in blender
 
1 to 2 Carbmaster yogarts (to your taste)  I can only find these yogarts at Ralphs and Albertsons they only have 3 grams of sugar and 4 carbs.  I prefer Ralphs because they are always on sale for .50 cents a piece!!
 
1/2 to a full ice tray in blender and mix for longer than a couple of mins....the longer you mix in my personal opinion the better, obviously the less ice the less of a "smoothie" consistancy you will get.  The one I did this weekend had NO smootie consistancy because there was so much juice in the blender (it was a double recipe).  The above recipe I make 2-3 times a day for the three of us... Aveda loves it...doesn't put it down til she is done..and sometimes comes back for seconds!!
 
You can play with it and see what you like best for your taste..some people like lemon and lime some only lemon.  I have had it with out Lemon and Lime and it's fine...just depends on what you want to do with it that day.  The banana is totally optional...I put it in Aveda's juice because she loves Banana.

12 month appt. update! Aveda is NO LONGER anemic..her level is now at 12.5!

Start Now

Ray came to me today and said, "I know you want to do a 5k, so lets have our own." of course I said "YES." So join us and start getting healthy today. Whether you can run or can barely walk, you can still participate. Please come Run/Jog/Walk with us :)
